Learn about the ongoing preservation of St Winwaloe's, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
In recent years the roof has become very vulnerable to storm damage. The slates have started to crumbles and the nails are failing. Reroofing has become essential to ensure the ancient building is protected from the weather. The reroofing of the church is made possible with the support of The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we will be able to completely reroof the church.
We are also extremely grateful to Cornwall Historic Churches Trust and local donors who have helped fund the project to reroof the church. It could not have been achieved through local fundraising alone.
The work is scheduled to start in January 2027. As much of the existing slate as possible will be reused and reclaimed slate has been sourced so the character of this historic Grade 1 listed church will not be affected.
